Now taking new mandates

Does Siddwell finance a search before a company is chosen?

No. Siddwell does not finance a search before a company is chosen. Capital advisory starts when there is a company and a use of proceeds. If you want a call when a company is being sold, that is the network: you name the mandate, and you hear when a representation fits.

What the firm will do once a company exists

After a company is under letter, or otherwise chosen, the acquisition can be taken to lenders. That is the same capital-advisory work an owner uses: build the case, approach more than one lender, compare structures. SBA 7(a) is one path when a lender finds that the change of ownership fits, within the $5 million maximum the SBA states. Bank and private credit are the others. The search fund's own investors may still be the equity. Siddwell's published description of the mandate is the financing competition, not a guarantee that those investors close.

Owners should not read a searcher's outreach as financed certainty. Until the company is chosen, this firm is not raising the searcher's living expenses or their pursuit costs. If the searcher is a buyer you might sell to, they belong in a broader process, not in a private negotiation that assumes their fund is already closed.

What you can ask for before a company is chosen

You can ask to be in the network. You name the mandate, the size and the kind of company, and you hear from the firm when it is representing something that fits. That is a buyer relationship. It is not a loan, not a stipend for the search, and not a commitment that a company will be shown to you. Stanford's search-fund description is about investors backing an entrepreneur who will find, buy, and run a company. Those investors are not Siddwell. This firm does not finance pursuit costs, living expenses, or an open search.

The switch flips when a company is chosen. Then the acquisition can go to lenders the way any other acquisition does: a case, more than one lender, a comparison. SBA 7(a) is one path when a lender finds that the change of ownership fits, inside the $5 million maximum the SBA states. A bank or private credit may be the better path. The search fund's investors may still be the equity. None of that is a guarantee, and none of it is available, from this firm, while the search is still a search.

How Siddwell handles this

Siddwell is an AI-native investment bank for privately held US companies with $1M to $100M in revenue, doing sell-side M&A and capital advisory.

Siddwell's line is the company and the use of proceeds. Before that, the honest answer is no. After that, the work is a financing process, and the lender still makes the loan.
