Now taking new mandates

Is Siddwell a business broker?

No. Siddwell is not a business broker. A business broker shops a short list, usually buyers already known, one name at a time. Siddwell's sale work is sell-side M&A: the buyer market is mapped, taken out together, and negotiated by a banker. The two names get used as if they were one job. They are not.

What the two hires actually do

An owner who is ready to sell often gets one of two introductions. A bulge-bracket bank will not staff a company in the middle of the market, so the introduction that shows up is a short list of buyers worked one at a time. Or the owner takes the one buyer a broker already knows. Either path can close. Neither is a process in which the market has to compete. Sell-side coverage means the relevant buyers are identified, the materials are prepared, and the parties are taken out at once so more than one bid can exist.

The buyer market on a Siddwell sale includes private equity, strategic acquirers, family offices, search funds, independent sponsors, and international buyers. A fund, a searcher, or a sponsor can win. They should not be the only names in the room unless that is a choice made after the market has been mapped. A sale that starts and ends with one name is a different product.

Fees

Siddwell does not publish a fee schedule. What is published is the work: a market, a competition, and a banker on the deal. This page does not invent a commission rate for a business broker or a success fee for an investment bank. Ask anyone you might hire, in writing, who pays them and for what.

How to tell which product you were offered

Ask who else will see the company, and when. A short list worked one name at a time is a brokerage product, even if the person uses the word banker. A sell-side process prepares materials, maps who would actually buy, and takes those parties out together so a bid has to stand next to another bid. The buyers on a Siddwell sale are private equity, strategic acquirers, family offices, search funds, independent sponsors, and international buyers. Any of them can win. None of them is the assignment by default.

Also ask what happens to the two buyers you already know. They should be in the process. They are not a reason to skip the rest of the market. Siddwell does not publish a fee that turns those two products into one price. Whoever you might hire should say, in writing, who pays them and for which product. The firm is not a business broker, and it will not describe a one-name introduction as a sale process.

How Siddwell handles this

Siddwell is an AI-native investment bank for privately held US companies with $1M to $100M in revenue, doing sell-side M&A and capital advisory.

When Siddwell is hired for a sale, the product is sell-side M&A, not a short list worked one name at a time. Software does the volume. The banker negotiates.
